

Rick graduated from Myers Park H.S. and attended Gardner Webb to play baseball. He went to UNC Business School and Law School. He served in the North Carolina National Guard for six years and following the death of Martin Luther King was briefly activated to full time service.
Following graduation from UNC Law School Rick joined the District Attorney’s office in Charlotte where he honed his trial skills. In 1975 Rick embarked upon a successful private trial practice. Rick was a founding partner of Myers, Hulse and Brown Law Firm in 1984 and practiced there until his retirement in 2015.
Rick grew up next to Myers Park Country Club golf course and as a member was and an avid golfer wining 16 first flight tournaments. In addition to golf, later in life, dogs became his passion. He participated in Field Trials throughout the southeast with his dogs and horses and together they won several national field trial competitions.
Rick is survived by his brother, Ronald Stephen Hulse, Jr. and sister-in-law, Mary, of Tampa, his nieces: Heather Hulse Igoe (Brian) and Hilary Hulse Bell of Atlanta, nephew, Ronald Stephen Hulse III, of Tampa and great nieces, Berkley, Emma, Lily Bell and Gracie Igoe. Rick was loved by many friends and neighbors.
The service for Rick will be in the Paul Helton Chapel of Forest Lawn West Funeral Service, 4601 Freedom Drive, on Saturday, the 28th of August at 1:00 pm with a reception to immediately following. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn West Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in remembrance of Rick to the Charlotte Humane Society, 2700 Toomey Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28203.
