Will was born in Charlotte, NC on May 27th, 1982 to Teresa and Dr. William Laird.
Will is survived by his parents, Dr. William Kenneth Laird of Charlotte; his mother Teresa Graham and stepfather George Graham of Pinehurst, NC; sister Shannon Amra and brother-in-law Raed Amra, nephew Zeinadine Amra, and niece Sumaya Amra of Raleigh, NC. He is also survived by maternal aunt Jayne King and uncle David King of Charlotte, maternal uncle D.D.Bunn of Roxboro,NC. and paternal aunt Mary Laird of Toronto, Canada, and numerous loving cousins. He is predeceased by paternal grandmother Gertrude "Trudy"Laird and grandfather & namesake William Warring Laird Sr; uncle Robert Laird, aunt Kathy Avery (nee Laird) of Toronto, Canada; maternal grandmother Virginia Bunn, grandfather Dwight Bunn of Charlotte, and aunt Kay O'Brien of Richmond, Virginia.
Will held an associates degree from Caldwell Community College in Boone, NC, where he developed a true love for the outdoors, snowboarding, camping, and wildlife. He loved his job as a builder, carpenter, and lead construction worker, and was excited about upcoming projects.
Will meant the entire world to his family and many close friends, and he touched the lives of so many. His white heart and giving nature will be forever imprinted on those who loved him. Will made friends everywhere he went--he was kind without reservation, helpful without judgment, and had a special knack for looking out for anyone struggling or in need of a shoulder on which to lean. Will was an avid music-lover, and had a song in his heart his entire life. His frame took up entire doorways and his smile and laugh, entire rooms. He made anyone he was with feel like the most important person in the world, and his family and friends feel blessed and fortunate to have been given the gift of him for 35 years. The world is a less gentle place without him in it, and his loss is felt most acutely.
The family is holding a private service for Will, which will be followed by a Celebration of Life gathering at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Will’s memory to The Boys and Girls Club of the Sandhills, PO Box 1761, Southern Pines, NC 28388.
