William "Gus" Padgett

He was born on April 20, 1930 in Rutherford County, NC to James Riley Padgett and Sophia McDowell Padgett.

Gus served in the US Navy as a Radar Man from 1948 until 1952. He retired from Duke Power Company after 35 years of service.

Survivors of Gus include his son, Clayton Padgett and wife, Lisa; daughters, Janet Ashley, and Jane Brotherton and husband, Steve; brothers, Joe Padgett and Bo Padgett; as well as six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife, Marjorie Hammett Padgett; his son, Alan Augustus Padgett; and two brothers, Gardner Padgett and Gene Padgett.

The family will gather for a private graveside service to remember Gus. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made out to Carolina Caring, 3975 Robinson Rd., Newton, NC 28658.
