Dub was born in Charlotte, NC to the late Burch and Jean Phillips on May 22, 1948. He retired from Eastern Electric after 32 years of service. Dub enjoyed watching NASCAR, football and PGA Tour events. His favorite hobby was spending time with family and friends.
Dub is survived by his wife Gaye Phillips, daughter Angela Smosarski (Steve) of Mooresville, NC, son Rusty Phillips of Charlotte, grandson Taylor Fox (Brittany) of Huntersville, NC, granddaughter Logan Bolick (Casey) of Conover, NC, sister Nancy White of Cornelius, NC, five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 4 in the chapel at McEwen Derita Chapel, 6300 Mallard Creek Rd., Charlotte, NC 28262. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn West Cemetery, 4601 Freedom Dr., Charlotte, NC 28208. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
