I am an internist from Louisville, Kentucky practicing outside Atlanta.  My father is Fred Williams, an endocrinologist who did his residency with Dr. Farr.  After listening to my father's moving story about Dr. Farr, I felt compelled to write this message and let his family know that Dr. Farr's example of hard work, courage, and humor has spread to the next generation of physicians.  He is an example for all physicians to follow.  

For Barry Farr, a true knight who strove with his last ounce of courage.

My memories of Barry and Ann begin with their arrival in Charlottesville as Interns and extend through collaboration with Barry and Dick Wenzel as Barry moved through a Fellowship and onto the Faculty of Medicine.  He was a joy to be with as a friend and work with as a colleague.  It is sad to think that years which should have brought only joy and fulfilment were lessened by illness and a disruption of his exemplary career.  You are both in my thoughts.

I remember Dr. Farr from my days as a Ward Clerk on Barringer 3. He was an intern, fresh out of medical school and working a grueling schedule. I recall he was kind, gracious, smart and had a quick smile and a pleasant word for everyone. He and Anne were the perfect pair. She was also in her internship year. I was lucky to know him. My sincerest condolences to his family.

My wife and I worked with Barry at UVa years ago and became really good friends with him. I always loved to get him laughing, it would fill the whole room with joy. He will be truly missed! Our condolences to the family.

I, too, grew up in Barry's neighborhood and graduated high school with him and attended Ole Miss with him....even rode horses with him and his childhood pal, John Williford. I remember his anxiously awaiting during his junior high days, for his mare to have a colt, Blitz. He was wonderfully smart, with an infectious laugh. My thoughts and prayers are with Ann and his family.

I grew up with the Farrs as neighbors. Barry, Brian and I were all in the same fraternity at Ole Miss. Barry was always a fine gentleman.  Just a few months ago I ordered his book for my younger brother who lives in Suffolk and also has MS in hopes Barry's experience will help. I wish you and your family the best during this sad time.

I went to school with Barry at Greenville High School. He was a great guy and a true Southern gentleman. He got along with everybody, everyone liked him. I am so sorry for your lost. Bob Singleton Lexington, KY

I am very sorry to hear this news, and my thoughts are prayers are with the Farr family.
I grew up in Greenville and went to school with Barry and Celia.  One memory of Barry is that we were on the GHS newspaper staff and he lent me his Mamiya Sekor 35mm SLR camera for a weekend so that I could practice with it.  I was always impressed that he trusted me with such a valuable piece of gear.  I remember his as super sharp in everything he did.

What an intelligent and all around nice man. Graduated high school with him and knew his beautiful sister,  Cecelia. Loved his dad who was always so kind to me.  I wish peace of heart to all family and friends.

To Ann and family - knowing Barry since high school days in Greenville, I remember that infectious laugh as well. It will stay in my ears, being thankful that he was part of my life. The peace that passes all understanding, comfort and bear you up in these stressful times.
