Brenda Rice Shortall, 82, of Charlottesville, passed into eternal life Friday, November 28, 2014 at the Martha Jefferson House. Born April 30, 1932 in Milton, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Dr. George William and Kathleen McCabe Rice. In addition, she was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, John Francis Shortall, Sr. She is survived by two daughters, Aileen Marie Shortall and Kathleen Elizabeth Maxfield; three sons, John Francis Shortall, Jr., Kevin Michael Shortall and Brian Joseph Shortall; one sister, Cathy Robinson; one brother, Leo Rice; and 13 grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at the Church of the Incarnation with a funeral mass to follow at 12:15 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Blue Ridge Chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society: Bike MS Team Brenda, 1020 Carrington Place, Charlottesville, VA 22901.
