We are sad to announce the passing of Clarence Edward Moore Sr. “Big Eddie” or “Papa”, of North Garden, Virginia. He died at the age of 66 on Sunday, January 8th, 2023 at home in his loving wife’s arms and surrounded by family.
Big Eddie was born March 9th, 1956 in Charlottesville, Virginia to the late Ernest Lynwood Moore Sr. and Martha Anne Davis (Lilly).
Big Eddie was married to the love of his life, Delores, who he married at age 17. He was a life-time auto-mechanic who worked hard for his family every single day. He devoted his time to helping his friends and family in any way that he could.
Papa loved spending time with his family. During the warm months you were guaranteed to find him on a boat at a lake with a fishing pole in one hand and an ice cold beer in the other. Some of his favorite memories are with his son, Little Eddie, grandson, Dustin, and best friend, Joe out on the lake. When he wasn’t fishing he loved spending his weekends at campgrounds with his wife Delores, granddaughter, Lisa, her husband, Tim and great-granddaughter, Rose. He was always elated to be his granddaughter, Hannah’s cornhole partner and loved bragging about their winning streaks. When the weather got cold, he loved relaxing in front of the TV watching Christmas movies with his daughter, Tammy. He also enjoyed playing his luck at the slot machines in Maryland with Delores, Juanita, and Big Willie. Cruising around town with his daughter, Angie, and her husband Tim in their classic cars was also something that always put a smile on his face. He passed his love of cars and auto-mechanic skills down to his grandson, Jonathan (J.T.).
Big Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Lynwood Moore Sr. and Martha Anne Davis (Lilly).
He is survived by his wife, Delores Fay Moore, their son, Clarence Edward Moore Jr. “Little Eddie” of North Garden, Virginia, their daughters, Angelina Rose Gray (Timothy) of Sunderland, Maryland and Tammy Marie Myers of Palmyra, Virginia, grandchildren, Lisa Marie Breen (Timothy) of Charlottesville, Virginia, Jonathan Travis Walker Jr. of North Garden, Virginia, Dustin Tyler Moore of North Garden, Virginia, Michael Anthony Gonzalez III (Brooklyn) of Charlotte Hall, Maryland, Courtney Michele Marie Gonzalez of Williamsburg, Virginia, and Hannah Marie Morris of Palmyra, Virginia, three special great-granddaughters, Lillian Rose Breen, Lily Riann Walker, and Delilah Rose Gonzalez, brothers, Ernest Lynwood Moore Jr., (Julia) of North Garden, Virginia and James Lee Moore (Marcia) of Millersville, Maryland, sister, Mary Lynn Orange (Bryan) of North Garden, Virginia, three very special sister-in-laws, Juanita Rose Swindell (William), Joan Sue Prudhomme (Joseph), and Linda Diane DaSilva, many nieces and nephews that he cared for deeply, and special friends, Joe and Sheryl Berry, Grover Reynolds, Susan Bender, and Jake Thackston.
