Charles Grover Gibson

Charles (Chuck) Grover Gibson passed away at UVA Medical Center in Charlottesville, VA on August 21, 2014 at the age of 79. Chuck is predeceased by his wife, Margaret Elizabeth (Peggy) Gibson, his father, Grover G. Gibson and his mother Ida Caroline Gibson. Chuck is survived by his daughter Pamela Gibson Goff and her husband David living in Christiansburg, VA and his son Mark Darrell Gibson and his wife Stacey living in Bedford, VA. Chuck enjoyed spending time with and participating in the activities of his grandchildren; BreAnna Martin and her husband Matt living in Christiansburg, VA and Zachary Gibson living in Beverly, MA. Also, he will be missed by his special friends Lucy Werner and Pauline Johnson and his beloved cat Jocko. Chuck was born in Norfolk, VA on February 20, 1935. He graduated from Princess Anne High School in 1953 and went on to earn an Electrical Engineering Technology degree from Virginia Tech in 1956. He worked as an Electrical Engineer and Expeditor with GE and Sperry Marine after serving in the Air Force for four years. Chuck enjoyed Church activities and teaching Sunday School; playing, listening and singing all kinds of music; photography; nature, and feeding the birds; socializing, and helping others. Chuck loved to travel and had seen much of the world. Chuck and Peggy had been active with Meals on Wheels and in recent years, Chuck had been active with the Gideon's. Worship and celebration of life will be held at First Baptist Church, 735 Park Street, Charlottesville, VA 22902 on August 30th, 2014 at 10:00 AM. Reception and visitation with the family will follow in the reception hall.
