Clyde was born on November 26, 1936, in Washington, D.C., to the late Clyde Burn Sr. and Gertrude Penwell Cooper. Clyde was Senior Chief Communication, U.S. Navy for 21 years. He was the owner of the Silver Fox Restaurant until 1985. Clyde was then manager of Club 216 for 16 years, after which he retired. Clyde loved his cats, dogs, kids, and to cook and bake.
In addition to his parents, Clyde was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronnie and Berlon; and his ex-wife Frances Cooper.
Clyde is survived by his husband of 38 years, Michael Allen Fitzgerald Cooper; three daughters, Connie George (Michael) of North Carolina, Mary Clements of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Linda Toney (Charles) of Richmond, Virginia; six grandchildren, Zackery, Danielle, Stephanie, Berkley, Christine, and Andrew (Ray); and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2019, at 1pm, at Teague Funeral Service in Charlottesville. A graveside service with full military honors will follow at Monticello Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Monday, May 20, 2019, from 6-8pm, also at the funeral home.
