Obituary of Cody James Dalton
Cody James Dalton of Charlottesville, went to Heaven to be with his mother on March 21, 2019. Born in Charlottesville, on September 3, 1988, Cody was a beloved son, grandson, nephew, cousin and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his mother, Alice Chisholm Dalton; grandma, Marie Grooms; grandfathers, Bobby Dalton, David Chisholm, and Ray Grooms; cousin, Kenny Houchens; and uncle, Phillip Houchens. He is survived by his father, James "Peter" Dalton; grandmother, Martha "Nanny" Dalton; uncle, Mike Dalton (Judy); aunts, Terry "TT" Craig (Roger) and Jeannette "Nett" Houchens; cousins, Kelly Houchens Rogers (Jacob), David Thomas (Monica), and Kris and Kacey Thomas; step-uncle and aunt, Stanley Grooms (Becky), Linda Birckhead, and many other family members. Cody graduated from Charlottesville High School, where he was an outstanding baseball, basketball, and golf player. Cody received a baseball scholarship to Potomac State University and attended West Virginia State University. He loved sports, hunting, and spending time with his family. Special thanks for his care to Teresa Radford and Hospice of the Piedmont. A viewing will be held on Sunday, March 24, 2019, from 6 until 8 p.m., at Teague Funeral Home for family and friends. Services will be held on Monday, March 25, 2019, at 1 p.m., at Teague Funeral Home. A graveside service will immediately follow at Holly Memorial Gardens. The family would like to invite all that knew Cody to a gathering at VFW on River Road following graveside services. No words or actions will ever be able to describe how much you are loved and how you will be missed. 143 Memorial contributions may be made to McIntire Little League and Charlottesville-Albemarle Rescue Squad.
