For years, Darlene’s fourth grade class was across from my speech room at Occoquan Elementary .We often talked about mutual students and family or the Speaker Series we attended at George Mason. As part of the Relay for Life Team , I celebrated Darlene’s survivors’ round with tears flowing. Later, I worked with a sweet young Kimmie at Westridge. Darlene always impressed me as a caring and responsible teacher, mother to both daughters, her own mother’s daughter and Don's wife.
I am so sorry to hear this loss of a good woman,
mother, wife, and grandmother.

Our deepest sympathy to Don, Katie, Kimmie & family. Thinking about Darlene brought back a lot of memories of the good times when we all first met in the townhouses in Woodbridge Virginia. We were all just starting out and helped each other out and continued to keep in touch even when there were long periods of time of no contact when we did it was like old times ....no time lost.
Darlene was a very kind soul and will be surely missed.
Many thoughts and prayers to you all❣️
Love & God Bless~~Steve, Leona & family

Darlene and I worked together at Pattie Elementary. We taught together several years and I always enjoyed talking with her. She loved her family so much and her Pattie "family" loved her too! My prayers and thoughts are with you all.

I was so sorry to hear of Darlene’s passing. She and I both taught at Pattie Elementary for several years. We taught on different grade levels, but I always enjoyed chatting with her at lunch, in the Teachers’ Lounge, and sometimes at recess. Darlene was a wonderful teacher and a gentle soul. Her kindness, grace, and strength inspired all whole knew her. May she rest in peace now.
My sympathies to Darlene’s family at this difficult time.
Sending love,

Don, Katie, and Kimie...I was so sad to hear of Darlene's passing. I worked with her at Occoquan Elementary for many years. She was such a sweet, kind, and caring person. Don, Darlene loved you, your girls, and grandchildren more than life itself! May all of your special memories keep her spirit alive in your hearts forever! We're keeping you, and your family close in prayer throughout the coming days ahead without the love of your life, mother, and grandmother.

Darlene was such a lovely person to teach alongside when we were both at Kerrydale. She was a friend with whom everyone could be at ease, converse, share. I loved enjoying fun time with her as well. My heart is saddened at her passing.
