David L. Bishop Sr.

He was born on June 11, 1938, to the late Stanley Dean and Dorothy Johnson Bishop. David is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley Shull Bishop of 65 years. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Stanley, Dickey, Raymond, Josephine, Elizabeth, Dorothy, and Shirley.

He is survived by his favorite brother, Robert "Bobby". David is also survived by his four boys, David Lee (Darlene), Timothy Wayne (Linda), Stanley Franklin (Beth) and Dennis Allen (Jayne). He had 14 grandchildren, Kevin, Brandy, Dana, Jason, Timmy, Arianna, Tiffany, Taylor, Trisha, Johnny, Heather, Michael, Kristina and Heather; 17 great-grandchildren, Cody, Ciara, Jayden, Nora, Chelsi, Faith, Brooke, Ridge, Hayden, Brianna, Taide, Thalia, Natali, Jackeline, Joaquin, Dakota and Keira.

David worked at the University of Virginia in the maintenance department for 55 years, where he made some lifelong friends: Roger, Rodney, Frankie and Scott. He loved camping and fishing at Elkhorn Lake where he made some wonderful life long friends: Ron and Debbie. He had wonderful neighbors: Wanda, Tommy and John. David loved his wife and boys. He enjoyed being surrounded by his children and great-grandchildren. He had numerous nieces and nephews and; a special niece, TuTu; and two special sisters-in-law he loved dearly, Sue and Joan. He leaves behind a special cat he loved dearly named Angel.

A visitation at Teague Funeral Service, 2260 Ivy Road, Charlottesville, will be held Thursday, November 4, 2021, from 6am to 8pm. A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday November 5, 2021 at the Teague Funeral Service Chapel followed by interment at Holly Memorial Gardens, 3251 Seminole Trail, Charlottesville . Pallbearers will be Dakota, Taide, Jason, Chuck, Taylor and Cody. The family invites friends and family to the house for remembrance at 2095 Dudley Mountain Road in North Garden, Va 22959
