How often in a lifetime will you make three friends for life in one evening? Nearly thirty years ago I met Dave along with cohorts Rick and Michael and began a valued friendship that extended to his family.

We talked about everything, usually with laughter, from academia to music to the philosophical as well as one of our favorite topics DC's metro area where Dave grew up.

He was a solid friend, always uplifting and welcoming. To Sarah and Ian I wish you comfort in your grief and healing over time.

It's still a shock! It's still a shock!
My sympathies go out to both of you, Sarah and Ian.
Your Father will be missed!
He was so smart, knowledgeable, insightful. And he could definitely make you laugh.
We had so many good memories going way back to our childhood and we shared many of them.
I'm thankful we were able to reconnect these past several years.

Dear Ian and Sarah, John and I are both heartbroken to hear about Dave's unexpected death. As you know our friendship goes way back to the 1970s. We met through his old school friend Derick Fiedler. We used to hang out with him on many weekends in those days and I remember meeting both of you when you were very young children. While we have not seen him much in the recent years John talked to him on the phone a few times a month and we visited and had lunch with Dave last Fall in Charlottesville.
Dave was a wonderful and very interesting friend and we never ran out of things to discuss. He is literally the only person John enjoyed talking on the phone with and they would easily talk for an hour at a time. We do have some stories to tell but will save them for his memorial service Our most sincere sympathy, Marilyn and John Siske
