

David Clinton "Clint" Houchens passed away peacefully at home in Crozet, Virginia, Friday, March 27, 2015. He was born August 18, 1942, in Charlottesville, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ethelbert "Jack" Houchens and Mary Dorothy Houchens; a brother, Alderman "Al" Houchens; and his faithful companion family pet, Bandit.
He is survived by his loving wife, Loney "Lulu" Houchens of Crozet, Va.; a devoted son, David C. Houchens, II of Orange, Va.; two step-sons, Timothy Morris and his wife, Wanda of Charlottesville, Va., and Christopher Morris and his wife, Tiffanny of Bridgewater, Va.; two grandchildren, David Houchens III, and Jacquelyn Houchens, both of Orange, Va.; one step-grandchild, Caden Morris of Bridgewater, Va.; a brother, Raymond Houchens and his wife, Iris of Scottsville, Va.; three sisters, Sadie Updike and her husband, Henry "Phil" of Newport News, Va., Dorothy "Dot" Davis and her husband, Shirley of Standardsville, Va., and Patsy DeVivi of Orange, Va.; two special nephews, H.P. and Doug Updike; special niece, Shari Mahoney and their families; numerous other nephews, nieces, cousins and friends; very special loved ones, Cathy Davis of Charlottesville, Va., Kim Wood of Orange, Va., and Jeffrey Moneymaker of Charlottesville, Va.; special friends, Lester Garrison and his wife, Pat of Charlottesville, Va., and Bill Sullivan and his wife, Marie of Troy, Va.; and his loving family pet and Daddy's girl, Suzie-Q.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy, a member of Charlottesville Moose Lodge #1028 for 46 years holding the Legion and Fellowship Degrees, he was a member of the VFW Post #1827 Men's Auxiliary. He retired from the County of Albemarle after 17 years of service as a Maintenance Mechanic, maintaining all the Courthouses and the Office Building on McIntire Rd.
We would like to thank everyone who included him on their prayer lists at church. Our deepest appreciation for all the care he received from the staff at DaVita Dialysis and Dr. Kevin McConnell, all the staff at Martha Jefferson Cancer Care Center, Dr. Rob Pritchard and Dr. Cynthia Spaulding, the staff at Martha Jefferson Crozet Family Medicine and Dr. Mark Keeley for all their years of service and the Hospice of the Piedmont for all their caring staff.

A memorial service and reception will be held at the Charlottesville Moose Lodge #1028 on Saturday, April 4, 2015, from 3 until 5 p.m. for family and friends to attend. Charlottesville Moose Lodge # 1028 will perform the Moose ritual and the Charlottesville/ Albemarle American Legion Post #74 will perform the Military Rites during the service. Pastor Josh Shifflett will officiate.
