D. Wayne Carver, fondly known as “Pete” to his family, left this existence and entered into his new adventure on September 5, 2014. He is preceded in death by his parents Claudius Bradley Carver and Virginia Pauline “Toms”, as well as some very special aunts, uncles and cousins. He leaves in his wake a loving and beautiful best friend, caregiver and wife Gay Swanson Carver; three daughters, Susan Lee, Nicole Griffin and Cara Carver Anderson and her husband Dana; Seven grandchildren Riley Lee Evans, Samantha Lee Evans, Mary Milton, Tre Griffin, Elie Griffin, III, Jacob Liam Anderson and Noah Wayne Anderson; and two step granddaughters Ashley Anderson and Sarah Anderson. He was also survived by special aunts and uncles as well as numerous cousin, nieces and nephews. Wayne was retired from the insurance industry and had an amazing sense of humor. Many weekends he could be found watching NASCAR, football, strumming a guitar or banjo, or just traveling around the countryside enjoying the beauty of nature. He loved bluegrass music, Jeepsters and challenges of all kinds, even to the point of preparing tax returns for his many clients and constructing the home he and Gay raised their family in. His loving wife Gay always joked with him by saying, “You are a Jack of all Trades and a Master of None”, although he surely mastered fatherhood. A memorial gathering will be held on Friday September 19, 2014 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Teague Funeral Home. There will also be a celebration of life held at the residence of Wayne and Gay on Saturday September 20, 2014 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that contributions be made to www.idsociety.org/foundation or North Garden Fire Department
