Joseph, Celeste and Diana,
I have heard about your Mom's passing this week, and my heart is broken. I have tears on my face as I write this.
I have lived with you around three years in Arlington, VA. Those have been wonderful days, and I am so thankfull for the privilege to share those days with you.
Diane have had a great influence  on my life through her brilliant smile and enjoyable way of living. I have so much nice memories about those days!
I will always remember your Mom's caring personality and will miss her.
May God bless all of you - Joseph with your beautiful family, Celeste and Diana. You are in my prayers.

Our hearts were saddened this morning as we read about your Mom's passing in the Washington Post.  So many pleasant and happy memories of your Mom pushed into my mind.  What a happy, bright, giving lady.  She will truly be missed.

Your mother came into my life many years ago when Diana was just a small baby and Celeste a toddler in our Cradle Roll Sabbath School at Vienna SDA Church.  What a burst of sunshine and love she brought as she and the girls came to our class.  Meeting her parents when they came to visit occasionally just increased the sunshine in our class.  The love and support they brought with them brightened our class and especially my own life.

What a loving and supportive mother to her three children!  Didn't think anything could top that pride and support until she brought Matthew and Luke to visit our class!!  No one could miss that grandmotherly pride.

Through the years we saw Diane and family occasionally and she enjoyed sharing about each of her three children and then the grandchildren.

We look forward to a better land where there will be no more parting.  Our thoughts and prayers for comfort are with each of you and the other family members as well.

Most mornings, your mother was the first person I would see when she dropped you off at school. She always started my day with joy. She was lavish with her praise of our work and generous with her support. No question was to trivial for her to answer, and she always listened. She was the one person who was always there for me.
I know that she has been welcomed with open arms into the next life and will spread her joy into eternity.
I am so sorry for your loss. My prayers are with you.

Ms. Almafitano was the first "cool mom" from our group of friends that I remember. I was lucky enough to tag along during church groups and outings with my brother and his friend, Joseph, who also became a dear friend to me. She was genuine...and as a child/teen you cherish that quality in adults. Being around her always felt warm and her quirkiness wasn't something I had seen in many adults. And I loved it! I look back now and think about how truly "cool" she was. I thought her long, long hair was so beautiful and her eyes were so expressive. I think I might have had a mom crush on Ms A. She raised her children in such a free, loving way and allowed them to blossom and grow into their own people and that is something I admire. My heart is broken thinking about the light that left his world too soon that was seen in her smile. I pray for comfort and strength for her family in this time. Truly I hope you feel the love from those around you during this time. She was very much loved.

Dearest Doc,
 It's been years since we last spoke and it breaks my heart that we'll never get to catch up but I hope you're looking over us with a smile. At one point in time you were a second mother to me, and that's how you've always stayed in my mind. It came as a huge shock to read of your passing, I kept thinking that it had to be wrong or a mistake of some kind because the woman who helped to shape my adolescence couldn't truly be gone. It took me a minute to process what I had read and the tears that were now streaming down my face. I cry even now as I try to find the words to express the sadness that we're all feeling because you've left us far too soon. However, I know without a doubt in my mind that you have been welcomed through St. Peter's gates and joined our Lords rank of heavenly angels. You were a beautiful soul, an amazingly strong woman, and wonderful role model. I will treasure every memory I have of you forever and remember our time together with a huge smile and love. Thank you for everything and may you rest in peace. Love you always, your "third" daughter.

Difficult to think she is gone. So many loved her, still do and always will

We are saddened by the loss of such a beautiful, wonderful, loving, generous, kind, warm, compassionate, and spiritual lady.  She was a joy in our lives. When my son, Robby became friends with Diana, it was a beginning of a great friendship.

Through the growth of this relationship, we had the opportunity to love and cherish this amazing family.  We will always remember the days she took in Robby as though he was one of her own. Through the years we took various trips to New York City, which opened our eyes to a different world that we live in and love today.

There're endless memories that we will always remember and hold dear to our hearts. Her infectious smile is one that even the thought and memory of will brighten one's day.  She had such a strong love for her family and friends.  As the years went on, she always sent subtle reminders through just a simple text or phone call stating that she was thinking of us.

She will be deeply missed and the tears keep flowing as we write this. Our hearts are heavy for such a loss.  We are thankful for the good times we shared and the ability to have had such an angel in our lives.  May God bless the family and continue to give you strength to carry on.

Diane you came into the world greeted by the light. When it was time to go home the light was there to greet you once again. Its warm loving glow eager to guide you home. Familiar faces awaiting your embrace. Parents who loved you dearly at peace at the sight of your face. Grandparents joyful to relive the beautiful days of yesteryear. The one you remained convicted to in faith opened his kingdom and made it yours. May you dream a million dreams, dance upon a cloud and sing a song of serenity. We love you. We miss you. We will never forget you.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Amalfitano family. She was always such a bright bundle of energy at the Virginia Osteopathic Medical Association meetings and an important part of the VCOM family. I will miss seeing her wonderful smile and hearing the latest proud stories about her family.

I always felt warmed, welcome and special in my sweet cousin Diane's presence. She sparkled, and sang joyously. The joy of the Lord was truly her strength!

I met Diane over thirty years ago at a music festival. It seems like yesterday that we were sitting on an embankment overlooking the stage and talking about our lives and all the things we wanted to experience. Diane sparkled on that day and I was instantly smitten with her. She beamed happiness, love, kindness and a boundless optimism. I later discovered that there was nothing special about that day, Diane always beamed happiness, love, kindness and boundless optimism. In those early days she always had Joseph and Gabby in tow, it was hard not to smile when spying Diane and her entourage approaching. She was a force of life and joy, brave, smart, creative, loyal, generous, and kind.

Many of my most cherished memories, those places I go when I need to cheer myself up or feel the love of kinship and community come from my thirty+ years of friendship with Diane. I am so profoundly grateful for the myriad ways she has touched my life. In both my darkest and brightest times, it was always Diane to whom I could turn.

I have so many lovely memories of shared adventures with Diane. Plans that came together, plans that went awry. Finding her guitar on the wall in a little music store in D.C., sailing in Baja, starting a business together, auto repair in Detroit, exploring hidden corners of NYC, playing in bands, camping, and the list goes on.

I never imagined life without Diane somewhere out there in the world. I feel a hole and know that life will be a bit less without Diane in it. My heart goes out to her family and the many others who will suffer her absence. I miss my friend, I will carry her memory with me all the days of my life.

We smiled, cried, hugged, and hoped. I And I was even  "beckoned" to have a TOFU dinner wirh Diane in her beloved Arlington VA. after my Dad died. 
(And one complied easily to her nudges.) I more than thank Diane for joining me in all my efforts with my Dad. (Hospital ER, often with Joseph, early mornings, her reaching my Dad if I needed more time to get there, attempting to seek all medical measures for Dad in his final  hours.) And gosh, her fun,  persistence, oh so very kind help in closing my parents' home. You are missed.
I want ALL to know we all had a very special angel in our midst. And now,  I say, GOD BLESS and THANK YOU MY COUSIN DIANE.

This woman gave me so much in the beautiful time I got to spend with her. At many times, Diane was like a mom to me and I'll always value the generosity and kindness she shared with me. She was always willing to offer a helping hand and every time I saw her I instantly smiled. She held a warm heart and it radiated so brightly into every room she walked into. May her light continue to shine as she beams down from above. You'll always be in the center of that first row with your big beautiful smile and your long gorgeous hair. I'll always remember every time you stayed over in Diana and I's room. So much love to you and to my beautiful friend Diana who has always and will always carry Diane's infectious spirit with her.

It is said that the best of a human life is what lives on after it. The people you have touched with your life in so many ways were indeed blessed. The struggles you faced with courage, the sense of purpose, your faith, your work, your love of parents, family, and your own children, was and is magnificent and an example to us all. It is my sincerest hope that the wings of our collective love helped to guide you home Diane.  The heavens are forever brilliantly illuminated with your boundless and loving spirit. I will keep in my heart Diane's sweet presence,  the fragrance of her influence in my life, and her caring personality in my memory.

I am surprised and saddened to hear of the passing of my sweet cousin Diane.  I lived with her and her son Joseph, and cousin Donnie in Arlington, VA for almost a year while going to Grad School in D.C.  We had some fun times eating blue crabs in the Summer and trying restaurants around Virginia.  Diane came and rescued me from D.C. when my creepy landlord was threatening me, and I ended up staying at Diane's house until I moved back to Colorado. She and her son made me feel less lonely so far from home.
Diane left all of us too soon.  She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
