Diane Mae Fox

Born on July 25, 1952, in Albemarle County, Virginia, to William Edward Fox and Lillian Cornelia Fitzgerald Fox.

Diane was a pure and beautiful soul. Even though she faced tremendous physical and mental challenges throughout her life, her gentle spirit touched everyone she met with unconditional love.

Diane found happiness in life's simplest pleasures. She treasured the comfort of pulling the covers over her head and retreating to her own little safe place. She loved listening and singing along to her favorite country music, especially Patsy Cline and Dolly Parton, and could happily spend hours looking through her magazines.

Diane truly enjoyed being around people. She looked forward to community outings, Special Olympics, and, most especially, spending time with her family at gatherings in Charlottesville.

Christmas brought her particular joy - she delighted in receiving a little Christmas money and, of course, a pretty purse to keep it in. But what Diane loved the most was giving and receiving love. She had a special way of drawing people close. Her favorite phrase was, "Come here for a minute," which was almost always followed by her wrapping her arms around you in a warm, loving embrace and giving you all the love she could hold. Those hugs were simply Diane-gentle, genuine, and filled with love that will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

She is preceded in death by her parents, William Edward Fox and Lillian Fitzgerald Fox, and one brother, Isaac Fox.

She is survived by 4 sisters, Shirley Taylor, Elizabeth Dabney, Patricia Crawford, and Betty Webber (Susie), and her brother, William Fox JR, as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to extend their sincere and deepest gratitude to everyone who showed kindness, compassion, and love to Diane throughout her life's journey. We would especially like to express our deepest gratitude to Catherine Woodson, an incredible gift from God, for providing true comfort, deepest empathy and absolute Respect for Diane. The family will never forget the unconditional love she shared with Diane every day. Knowing that Diane was in loving, capable hands as she transitioned to her angel wings gave the family immense comfort.
