Dorothy Holsapple

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving mother Dorothy Elizabeth Holsapple age 85, of Charlottesville, Virginia. Dorothy was born March 29, 1940, in Boonesville, Virginia to the late George Herbert Shifflett and the late Hattie Mae Shifflett. Dorothy passed away late in the evening on October 27, 2025.

She leaves to cherish her sweet memories by her two sons, David Holsapple and his wife, Audrey of Charlottesville and Greg Holsapple and his partner, Sherri Huff of Citrus Springs, Florida. Grandchildren include Darian (Cody), Adam (Christine), Lexy, Elleyna, Charles and Great-grandchildren; Paul, Emmett and Vilulah. Dorothy also survived by a special first cousin, Patsy Kelly, who was more like a sister to her.

Preceding her in death was her beloved Husband of sixty-two years Eugene McCal Holsapple who passed away December of 2024. Also, preceding her in death was her sister Joan and three brothers, Herbert, Roy and Dewey.

Mom was a force of nature, strong-willed and fiercely loving. She embraced life’s adventures with enthusiasm. From family vacations, spontaneous outings and family gatherings, she left us with countless cherished memories that will be forever etched in our minds and hearts.

Dorothy was loved by many people who worked with her and who she met at Teledyne, Watsons, Marshalls, K-Mart and Walmart through her working career. She took her jobs seriously and always gave her all.

The Family will be receiving Friends and Family, Monday, November 3rd, 2025 at 1:30PM-2:00 for visitation at Teague Funeral Home. The service begins at 2:00PM and immediately, following will be a graveside service at Holly Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her memory to a charity of your choice.
