

Dorothy was the eldest child born on February 3, 1935, in Charlottesville, VA to the late Jasper J. Bell, Sr. and Jane E. Tinsley-Bell. She retired from UVa Student Health Services. A member of the Habitat family at Sunrise Park and an active participant in the Friday coffee hours. She enjoyed cooking and good conversation with family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her brother, Raymond Bell.
Dorothy is survived by her children Paul Williams of Charlottesville, James Williams of Charlottesville, Bernard Williams (Jennipher) of AZ, and Karen Davis (Rodney) of Charlottesville; twenty-two grandchildren, of which three of the grandchildren she helped raise, Christopher, Octavious, and Xavier; a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Catherine Moody of Hattiesburg, MS.; two brothers, Philip Bell (Claressia) and Jasper Bell, Jr. (Janie) all of Charlottesville; one sister-in-law, Karen Herbert-Bell of East Orange, NJ, whose husband Raymond is deceased; two aunts, Mary Durrette and Thelma Tinsley both of Charlottesville; three uncles, George Tinsley, Isiah Tinsley (Anne), and Frank Tinsley all of Charlottesville; one aunt-in-law, Ina Tinsley of Richmond, VA.; a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
A visitation for Dorothy will be held on Sunday, March 28, 2021 from 11am to 5pm at Teague Funeral Home, 2260 Ivy Rd., Charlottesville, VA 22903. Graveside Services will be held on Monday, March 29, 2021 at Oakwood Cemetery, 727-849 1st Street S, Charlottesville, VA 22902 at 2pm.
