
Earl Herman Biel, Jr., 90, of Palmyra, died Thursday, March 3, 2016 in Charlottesville. Born June 3, 1925 in Richmond, VA, he was the son of the late Earl Herman and Eleanor Harbach Biel. Mr. Biel graduated from Upper Darby High School in Upper Darby, PA. He served his country as a Marine during WWII in the South Pacific. After his military service, he graduated from Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA where he met his wife. They married in 1950. His career was in the Banking and Finance Industry. He was a member of the Phi Kappa Sigma Fraternity, Marine Corps League Bradley T. Arms Detachment #1256, Fluvanna County American Legion Post #2003, the Fork Union Masonic Lodge #127, Harold R. Stevenson Scottish Rite Association in Fork Union and South Plains Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his wife, Joan C. Biel; a daughter, Christine Biel Harper and her husband Bruce; a son, Steven B. Biel and his wife Marianna; a brother, Bruce Edward Biel and his wife Jean; two grandchildren, Cierra L. Biel and Marina R. Biel; and many loved nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at a future date.
