They raised five children while traveling the country from California, Montana, Arkansas, Japan and finally Nebraska. In September of 1979, he retired from the military and started his career with Centel/Sprint in Charlottesville, Va. where he ultimately retired and remained to this day. He and Phyllis have been members of St Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church for many years. Edgar was a beloved husband, brother, father, uncle and grandfather. Edgar was loved and adored by all who met him. He was a kind and gentle soul that so many looked up to and admired. To share a quote, "he set forth the example of stability, faithfulness and kindness to all of his family, nieces and nephews included", is to share how much he was cherished and how much he will be missed. The family would like to thank the doctors and nursing staff of the University of Virginia Medical Center, as well as the exceptional care and compassion he received from UVA's Palliative Care, during Ed's final days.
