

Elizabeth (Betty) Roberts, daughter of the late Paul and Susie Hiza,was born in New York City. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Matt Taylor Roberts and her four sisters, Ann Fusek, Susan Podzamsky, Katherine Medvecky and Christine Hardgrove.
After skipping several grades in public school, Betty enrolled in Hunter College and graduated with Bachelor of Science degree. Her love of science led her to a job at Columbia University where she a team of scientists created the first oral birth control pill. Betty went on to obtain a Master's degree in Library Science which led to positions at Stanford University, CA, Washington University, St Louis and finally the United States government in Washington DC.
Betty and Matt enjoyed traveling the US together, especially to the National Parks. The rafting and camping trips through the Grand Canyon were probably their favorite.
Betty and Matt are survived by 17 nieces and nephews, 35 great nieces and nephews, and 25 great great nieces and nephews and had a special place in her heart for each of them. She always remembered birthdays, special occasions, and holidays with a box full of goodies she knew we would like.
Aunt Betty was an extremely intelligent, loving woman. Her passing left a hole on our hearts plus numerous happy memories. We will miss her dearly.
