Elsie Thomas

Elsie Virginia Thomas, age 96, of Ivy passed away on Wednesday, December 21, 2016, at the Laurels of Charlottesville. Born on September 7, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Eddie and Lessie Gibson Dunn. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Albert Wilson Thomas; her son, Robert W. Thomas; and daughter-in-law, Katherine E. Thomas. Elsie is survived by her loving sons, Daniel L. Thomas and Gary W. Thomas; brother, Ernest Dunn; daughter-in-law, Virginia M. Thomas; and her grandchildren, Tammy, Ty, Joshua, Chelsi, Christopher, Todd, and Mark. She is also survived by her 10 great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and many other family and friends that will sorely miss her. Elsie had a strong personal relationship with her Lord and Savior. She worked for Ix Silk Mill, Woolen Mills, and City Laundry as well as caring for her family and home. After her children had began families of their own, Elsie and her husband become parents to their poodle dogs, Curly and Butch. Elsie enjoyed cooking to please her family during family gatherings, especially Christmas. A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, December 23, 2016, at Holly Memorial Gardens by Pastor Larry Wingfield.
