I was so sorry to hear about the passing of Gene.  My deepest sympathies go out to the Corrigan Family.  Gene will be deeply missed by so many people.  May all of you be comforted by knowing what a larger than life and beautiful presence he was in the world!  He had a great impact on so many lives and was well respected by all that knew him.  May God give you the comfort and peace that you seek now and always!      

Coach and Mrs. Corrigan were always so welcoming and kind to children who tagged along with theirs.  The Corrigans and Camp Wahoo meant so much to Lexington.  We'll always remember and be cheered by recalling a wonderful, warm-hearted man.

Dear Lena (and Corrigan family),
I remember growing up with our family and yours; and I remember how much my dad Ted and mom Pat loved you and laughed with you so many times way back in the Holy Comforter school days. 
You'll never know how much Gene also meant to me years later (back in 1976) at a crazy time in my own life and in UVa sports - when he graciously brought me in to coach the Cavalier distance and cross country runners after the passing of the legendary Lou Onesty. 
Lena, I shed some tears just now enjoying the tribute video and thought I may have even caught a quick snapshot of you and Gene with my late mom and dad and the Van Yahres too.

I'm so glad the last time I spotted Lena and Gene that I stopped my car in the middle of Alderman Road, said hi and shared a few laughs. Driving to Graves Mountain Lodge with Gene for a University event my 4th year and an award received from Gene during half time of a lacrosse game are just a  few of my fond memories of one of those men you never forget....because Gene lead by example, made a difference, made you better and truly cared. Papa Gene and Birdie have been amazing role models for our world.  From my little family, our heartfelt condolences go out to the Corrigans.  

Papa Gene treated everyone around him with warmth and a true and genuine concern.  My family and I are better off having spent time with you and your fun loving family.  Thank you for making us feel like part of it.  I will treasure the first time we attended the National Football Foundation Induction ceremony for Andrew Rodriguez.  It was a great occasion, and we celebrated with your brother and his son, Georgie-Boy, Boo and about 300 of our closest friends.  And that just got us started.

Now I know what a true Irish Goodbye feels like.  Miss you and love you, Papa Gene.  The Arredondos...Oaxaca!!!

Papa Gene, the world was a better place with you in it.  You were so kind to everyone.  I’ll never forget the ND football game up at the Meadowlands.  Todd & Fred were about 9-10 & I was a single Mom with not a lot of extra money.  We never would have been able to enjoy a day like that with a family like yours.  You & yours took us in like we were one of the family.  I always loved you for that.  Then I saw you at the ACC tourney when GT won & I have a pic of you with Todd after that game.  I always tried to visit you when we were in the same zip code.  You will be missed by all & I hope you Rest In Peace, Papa Gene & Thank you for taking us in.😢😇🙏🏼

So sorry to hear of Gene's passing.  It has been many years since the days at Notre Dame. His  warmth, kindness and smile was always a part of his day...he made everyone feel special and could always find a moment to chat about what was going on...what a great guy! 
I enjoyed working with him doing some "refresh" to the conference room at the ACC, his office and the Monogram Room. He certainly was a southern gentleman that I'll never forget.

I'm so very sorry for your loss.  I remember meeting the Corrigans years ago in Lexington,VA  when our Ragazzo family lived down the alleyway from the Corrigan clan.    I was awestruck by the sheer numbers  of children in their family, but their home was always a welcoming and joyous place.   And our parents remained friends thereafter as our fathers pursued different athletic careers.  I was delighted to see Mr. Corrigan years later when Louise's son Clay and my son Nick were playing in a lacrosse tourney in Charlottesville.  Despite all the years since our last encounter, Mr. Corrigan was a kind welcoming presence and complimentary of Vito's grandson's lax play.  And a few more years later,  his grandson Clay and Vito's grandson Nick were college lax teammates.   So many connections over so many years.  On behalf of the Ragazzo family, we keep you all in our thoughts and prayers, and we hope that the lifetime of wonderful memories you have will help sustain you during this difficult time. Gene Corrigan was a gentleman and, more importantly, a good man. During the summer of 1978, I was serving my internship in sports administration at Virginia. During that time I got to know many of the athletic administrators at UVa. One day I was walking down a hallway in U Hall and Gene stopped me and asked me to go to lunch with him. Of course I said yes and we went to the Boar's Head Restaurant in C'ville.  I have never forgotten the advice and attention Gene gave me during lunch. After he asked me what I wanted to do in athletics, he told me to work hard and I will reach my lofty goals. I followed his advice during my 40 year career and eventually reached my goal of becoming Director of Athletics at a college or university. In 1995 I became the Director of Athletics at Johns Hopkins University and served in that position for 21 years. I will always be grateful to Gene Corrigan for showing me how to be a good human being while pursuing my dreams! During my time as AD, I always took time to speak with young people who were beginning their careers. My deepest sympathy goes out to the Corrigan Family and Gene's close friends. Know that Gene Corrigan had a positive influence on countless numbers of people during his lifetime, many more than you think.

Several years ago while flying to visit my son I had a  chance to sit with Gene during the flight. He seemed so delighted to have a chance to visit with me. Some where in the visit I'm sure we talked about sports. The memory of our visit and his wonderful friendliness has always had a very fond place in my mind. I used to play basketball at Mr. Corrigan's home on Leawood/Tomahawk Dr in Greensboro when I was young (around 1969?)  I remember Louise and David and all of the kids were really nice.  A great family.  Mr. Corrigan would join us sometimes.  He was just a nice man.....always very nice to me.

What an amazing tribute to your dad!  He was a wonderful person who made a difference to many.  He will surely live on in the people he touched.

Thinking of the loss of this remarkable man who played a very significant role in the development of Charlottesville Catholic School.  He was graced with a long life and will be missed by his family and many of those who shared his life pathway.  He offered wise counsel to me at CCS when in the throes of a new leadership transition, his support was greatly appreciated.  I wish his family strength in moving forward without his presence in their daily lives.

Corrigan family - I am so sorry for your loss. I always love spending time with you all. I will remember how kind he always was to me - treating me as part of the family (and including me in your big family dinners). He was kind and funny and larger than life.
