

George Arold Heller, Jr., 90, died on April 13, 2026. He was born in Baltimore, Maryland to George Heller and Sarah Bennett and attended Eastern High School. George joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1954, serving in California and Okinawa. He joined the Naval Aviation Cadet program in 1956 and completed flight school at NAS Pensacola. George flew early jets as a member of an all-weather fighter squadron at NAS Oceana and served as a flight instructor at NAS Pensacola.
Following his military service, George returned to Baltimore, working as a pipefitter in shipyards and later for Grumman Aircraft. He married in 1964 and raised a family in Baltimore and Carroll and Harford counties, Maryland. George began working as a computer programmer during the days of punch cards, taking progressive roles at Johns Hopkins, Alex Brown and Sons, and Boeing Computer Services. In 1986 he relocated to Falls Church, Virginia where he worked for Freddie Mac as a systems analyst.
George moved to Williamsburg, Virginia in 2005 and retired a short time later. He enjoyed spending time at local attractions including Colonial Williamsburg and Busch Gardens with his family and maintaining his home and yard. He was preceded in death by his siblings Carolyn, Nancy, and David, and is survived by his wife Theresa, sons George, Mark, and Matt, daughter-in-law Diane, and grandsons Sam and Alex.
