

Harold Miles Ferrell of Charlottesville,Va. passed away on July 22, 2025 at UVA Hospital at 93 years old.
He was born March 10 1932 in Danville, Va. the fourth son of Thornton R. and Effie Snead Ferrell who preceded him in death.
Harold is also predeceased in death by his brothers Thornton Richard Ferrell Jr., Gordon Lee Ferrell, and Melvin Neal Ferrell.
He is also survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, wife Rose Marie Ferrell, son Michael D. Ferrell (his wife Sue),daughter Catherine Ferrell Cooper, granddaughter Cassandra Ferrell of Charlottesville, Virginia grandsons Michael D. Ferrell, Jr. (wife Tara) of New London, North Carolina, Justin Cooper (wife Lydia) of Albemarle County, Virginia, Robert Cooper, Jr. deceased and great grandson Ryften R.Cooper, born in January 2023, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
After graduating from George Washington High School in Danville he enlisted in the US Air Force where he completed a tour of four years with a honorable discharge. The tour helped him in selecting a career.
Afterwards he returned to Danville to enroll at the VPI Extension and married Marie in his sophomore year. He transferred later to VPI in Blacksburg, Va. and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree with Honors in Electrical Engineering. Upon graduation He started his career with Eastman Kodak in Rochester, New York joined later to Sperry Marine in Charlottesville, Va. where he traveled to many countries with work. He retired with 30 years of service.
After retiring, Harold spent time doing the things he loved most, spending time with family, fishing, watching his grandson play baseball, working in his yard, working on the computer, wood working, watching his birds from his window, researching his family tree and working puzzles. He was interested in everything, history, war planes, nature and loved “gadgets” so that he could figure out how they worked.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and was always there for us.
He loved his family with all his heart and enjoyed every moment with them.
A visitation will be held at 11:00 AM at Jefferson Baptist Church, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM. Interment will take place at 1:00 PM at Monticello Memorial Gardens on Route 53, across from Michie Tavern.
