

Bert was born on March 25, 1960 in Albemarle County, Virginia to the late Mary Frances and Herbert Crafts Barrell.
He is survived by his three sons and daughter-in-law Nick, Audrey, Mack, and Miles (Liz) and his two grand-daughters, Emilia and Lydia. He also leaves behind his three sisters, Margaret, Jane, and Barbara as well as many other extended family members and friends.
He Is preceded in death by his father, Herbert C. Barrell, his mother, Mary Frances Barrell, and his loving wife, Suzy Barrell. They are finally reunited again after nearly twelve years apart.
Bert graduated from Western Albemarle High School in 1978. He then met Suzy shortly after high school and they shared many adventures together until her untimely passing in 2013.
He was employed as an auto mechanic since age 16 and finished his career at University Tire and Auto Centers after completing over 20 years of service. He took sincere pride in his work while providing a constant support and mentorship to his co-workers.
Bert never knew a stranger and could certainly keep a new friend entertained for hours with stories and more. His bubbly personality and ability to always find a silver lining in each situation was never unnoticed.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at Teague Funeral Home from 6-8 PM.
There will be a celebration of life to follow at a later date that will be announced in the coming weeks.
