Howard Imhoff passed away peacefully March 7, 2026, at Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville, Virginia. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on October 30, 1938, to George B. Imhoff and Vada Lantz Imhoff.
After attending DeVilbiss High School in Toledo, he graduated from Bowling Green State University in Ohio and began his career as an analyst and project manager for the C.I.A. and the D.I.A. After he retired from the federal government, he was employed for an additional two years as a project manager for Lockheed Martin.
On July 20, 1963, Howard married Linda Sue Mauntler of Woodville, Ohio and moved to the Washington D.C. area, where they lived briefly in Maryland before moving to Sterling, Virginia. There he and Linda raised their two children and were active participants in the Lutheran church, where Howard served as a Church Council member, financial secretary, usher, and chaired various other committees. He was also a leader in Cub Scouts.
Howard loved retirement! It was an opportunity to pursue his hobbies: reading about the Civil War and WWII; woodworking; furniture refinishing; golf; and especially travel, particularly by cruise ship.
Surviving Howard are Linda, his wife of nearly 63 years; two children, James (DeeAnn) Imhoff and Kristin (Frank) Fair; five grandchildren, Rachel Imhoff Taylor, George Imhoff, Andrew Imhoff, Frankie Fair, and Sofia Fair; and one great-grandchild, Clara Taylor. Also surviving are Linda's sister, Marcia (Clyde) Hull, and Linda's brother, John (Marge) Mauntler, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.
