She shared 63 wonderful years of marriage with her husband, Guy, and together they built a life filled with love and devotion to family.
Raised in Nelson County, Iris later moved to Charlottesville and began her career at State Farm, where she met the love of her life, Guy. She later worked at Comdial and the University of Virginia, where she was known for her dedication, warmth, and kindness.
Iris was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who always kept her family close in her heart, no matter the distance.
Outside of work, Iris found joy in the simple beauty of nature. She loved gardening and took pride in nurturing flowers and plants with the same gentle care she gave her family. Her warmth, compassion, and gentle spirit will be remembered always.
Though she faced the heartbreaking loss of her son, Michael DeHooge nearly five years ago, she carried on with quiet strength. She is now reunited with him in heaven and is lovingly remembered by her daughter-in-law, Pam Clark.
Her memory lives on in her husband, Guy DeHooge; her daughter, Suzanne Snarzyk and her husband, Brian; her grandchildren, Abigail Snarzyk, Emily Snarzyk, Matthew DeHooge, Ryan DeHooge, Zachary DeHooge and his wife, Autumn; and her great-granddaughter, Millie Grace DeHooge.
A funeral service will be held on November 1, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Ivy Creek United Methodist Church followed by burial at Monticello Memory Gardens.
