Obituary of James J Malloy
Beloved husband, dad, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend James Malloy, 80, of Crozet, Virginia died on October 21, 2018. Jim is survived by his wife Louise, daughter Kathleen Malloy, son Tuck Malloy, daughter Megan (Christian) Malloy-Moran, daughter Amy (Tom) Takesian, son Tim (Molly) Malloy, daughter Carolyn (Rick) Basilio, son John (Brea) Malloy and 15 grandchildren Adam, Ryan, Kaity, Finn, Caleb, Jonah, Abby, Barrett, Mac, Tristen, Lauren, Charlotte, Ricky, Owen and Leah. He is also survived by his brother Tom, sister Harriett Flynn and many devoted nieces, nephews and lifelong friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph. Jim grew up in Trenton, New Jersey and received a Bachelor of Science degree from Lafayette College and a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering from Pennsylvania State University. Armed with a good education and a loving wife, he headed to Charlottesville to begin his career and shortly after arriving co-founded Makco, Inc. After his retirement from Makco, Jim stayed busy having long lunches with good friends, tending to the garden and yard of his White Hall home and visiting his children and grandchildren. An avid gardener and fisherman, Jim was never happier than when picking green beans or casting a fishing line. He had a great sense of humor and laughed so hard at his own jokes that sometimes he couldn't even finish them. He loved long walks, trips to the beach, celebrating with friends, pretzels with butter, marathon trick or treating and UVA sports. As a successful businessman, Jim prided himself on being able to send all seven of his children to “any college they could get into" and wore their respective college t-shirts with great pride. His gentle spirit and sense of humor live on in his children and grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Teague Funeral Home in Charlottesville on Friday, November 9 and on Saturday, November 10 from 9:30 – 10:00 am at The Church of the Incarnation. A Celebration of Life Mass will take place at 10:00 am. Burial will be at Monticello Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity in Jim’s memory.
