James von Runnen
July 11, 1951 – November 26, 2017
James (Jim) von Runnen, 66, of Palmyra, Virginia and formerly of Northern Virginia, passed away suddenly, but peacefully on November 26, 2017. Jim was born on July 11, 1951, in New York, to John and Joan Marie von Runnen. Jim was devoted to his wife, children, and grandchildren, and will be dearly missed. Jim had an extremely successful career as an orthopedic salesman and was widely known in the DC area as “The Parts Guy.” Jim was an avid music lover and savored his “tasty tunage”, was passionate about boating and fishing, loved Barb’s cooking, and had an irreverent sense of humor that will live on and make people chuckle every time he passes through their thoughts. Jim is survived by his wife, Barbara von Runnen; daughters, Meghan Hoyecki, Justine von Runnen, and Leigh von Runnen; grandchildren, Samantha, Kellen, and Tyler Hoyecki; and brothers, Jack von Runnen and Jay von Runnen. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Blue Ridge Area Food Bank. You mustn’t tie yourself to me with tears, Be happy, we had so many years. I gave you my love and you can only guess How much you gave me in happiness. I thank you for the love you each have shown But now it’s time I traveled alone. So grieve a while for me if grieve you must Then let your grief be comforted by trust. It’s only for a while that we must part So bless those memories in your heart. I won’t be far away for life goes on So if you need me, call and I will come. Though you can’t see or touch me, I’ll be near with all my love around you soft and clear. And then, when you must come this way alone, I’ll greet you with a smile and “Welcome You Home”See more See Less
