He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Raymond and Margaret Mischnick; paternal grandparents, Raymond and Jessie Testerman; father-in-law, William J. Rickert Sr., and a cousin, Mitchel Diffenbaugh.
Jeff was born and raised in Lancaster, PA, and was a man of many talents and passions, especially for the great outdoors and wildlife. While in Pennsylvania, he attended Manheim Township HS, class of 79, as well as Brownstown VoTech where he learned his lifelong trade in construction. He earned the Order of the Arrow in Boy Scouts, enjoyed hunting, working on cars, dirt bikes, and Scuba.
After his move to Virginia, Jeff was always in the mountains of Shenandoah or on the lakes and rivers in his kayak “the Marsh Monster”. His free times also included fishing in the Outer Banks, reading, beekeeping, land and pond scaping, and just relaxing with a cold beer and some good food. Jeff also continued his deep allegiance to his Philly sports teams: the Eagles; Phillies; and Flyers. He took pride in his position as a Superintendent at Alexander Nicholson, Inc. At home, Jeff enjoyed gardening, relaxing in his man cave or aside his Koi pond, and with his beloved cats, Bagheera and Savannah, and especially his Golden Retriever, Holly.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Victoria (Rickert) Testerman, whom he shared many weekend outings, his personal thoughts, and future ambitions; his mother, Sylvia Mischnick Testerman; his father, Duane H. Testerman (Mary); brother, Michael Testerman; sister, Kelly Ashby (Alan); nephew, Jordan Ashby (Teresa) and their son, Steven; mother-in-law, Pauline (Scaglia) Rickert; sister-in-law, Carolyn Rickert Fisher (Dean); nieces, Devin and Delaney Fisher; nephew, Dylan Fisher (Amanda); brothers-in-law, William J. Rickert Jr., and Duane Leeds; sister-in-law, Donna Leeds; and many other aunts, uncles and cousins.
Anyone who knew Jeff was aware of his sincerity, wittiness, humor, and willingness to help anyone in a moment’s notice. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends, with whom he kept in constant contact, especially with his nephew Jordan.
