Jesse was born on February 13, 1939, in Oklahoma City, OK, to Charles William Blatt and Beula Williams Nelson. Jesse spent his life as a wanderer. He completed course work as an electrical engineer at Northwestern University where he met his first wife Gail, and had two sons, Doug and Steve. He went on to pursue his passion in psychology, and ultimately earned his Ph.D at the University of Michigan.
He continued his journeys, landing anywhere that piqued his interest, ultimately settling in Silver Spring, MD with his wife, Katie. They raised two children, Danny and Liza, and retired to the mountains of Virginia. Jesse was a passionate problem solver, always pursuing the perfect answer. He enjoyed music and community theatre, and found himself involved in many productions.
He’d delight anyone who’d listen with a fun story, a wry smile, and a mischievous twinkle in his eye. He left an indelible impression on everyone he met, and will live on in his preferred medium; the stories he’s told, and the stories he’s been a part of.
Jesse is survived by his wife, Katie Moran; and children, Doug and Donna Blatt, Steve and Joy Blatt, Danny Blatt and Mariah Klekner, and Liza Moran, as well as his five grandchildren.
A celebration of Jesse’s life will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to Wintergreen Music to further the work of an organization that brought Jesse so much joy.
