Mr. John Tracy Owens III

John Tracy Owens III, 61, died at his home on October 11, 2014 in Earlysville, Virginia. He was born on February 21, 1953 to John and June Owens in Louisville, Kentucky. He grew up in Wilmington, Delaware before settling in Charlottesville, Virginia in 1976. John attended Concord High School in Wilmington and High Point College in High Point, North Carolina. John was a lover of the great outdoors and all creatures great and small. He channeled these passions into his career as a horse farm manager for several horse farms in the Central Virginia area. John will forever be remembered for his great sense of humor, spirit of adventure and his passion for reading and gardening. John is survived by his parents John T. Owens Jr. and June Owens of Vero Beach, Florida, his loving wife of 37 years Linda Owens, his daughters Jennifer Owens and Jackie Murray; his sons, Michael and Eric Bryant; his sister, Kathy Lawings; his grandchildren, Louis and Sam Palmer, Kylie Bryant, Andrew Murray and Austin Hamric; his niece Emily Owens; and nephew Beau Franklin. He was preceded in death by his brother David Alan Owens. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, October 16, 2014 at Chestnut Grove Baptist Church in Earlysville, Virginia. Relatives and friends are welcome at the service and the reception at the Owens family home immediately following. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to John’s dearest charitable organizations: St. Jude's Children Research Hospital or your local S.P.C.A.
