He was born on December 1, 1948, in Charlottesville to the late Emmett Thomas Perkins, Sr.
and Janice Drinkard Perkins.
Known to most as Bobby and jovially as “Bad Bob” to a few, he was a hardworking electrician
who took great pride in his craft. Bobby was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers:
Emmet “Tommy” Perkins and William “Bill” Perkins. He is survived by his sons, Travis Tate
Perkins of Charlottesville, VA, and Rodney Scott Wheeler (Sherri) of Crozet, VA; two
grandchildren, Ryan Wheeler (Lauren) of Crozet, VA, and Caryn Wheeler (Hunter) of Dyke, VA;
and two great-grandchildren, Luke Wheeler and Carter Wheeler.
Bobby loved spending time outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and even in the
days when he wasn’t hunting or fishing, you could always count on him to share a story about
his many adventures in the woods or days and nights fishing at Nags Head. His loyal dogs
were his constant companions, and he was always working on something—fixing, building, or
tinkering in his shop. Bobby will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his love of the
outdoors, and his sense of humor.
He will be deeply missed by his family and friends, who will cherish the many memories and
laughter he shared with them.
