Jose is survived by his wife of 31 years, Joyce Diaz, his daughters Miriam Diaz, Christina Diaz, and Erica Donnelly, niece Jasmine Elizabeth Diaz, grandchildren Joseph De-Jesus and Yamilka Diaz, great grand children Ayden Jahel, De-Jesus Morales, and Marlenis Morales Diaz.
Jose was born as a U. S. Citizen in Juncas Puerto Rico, he came to the U.S. at the age of 5 with his family, he attended school in Philadelphia where he completed the 10th grade, and later completed his GED in 1985. Jose began his sobriety, working tirelessly in the field of addiction for Coatesville Addiction Center in PA, Brownwood, TX, and Region 10 in Charlottesville, VA, helping many clients to pursue their sobriety.
Jose was one of the the most resourceful people you could ever meet, a trait he proudly inherited from his father Pacomeo- affectionately know as “POP”, whether fixing something around the house or finding a creative solution to a problem, Jose could always find a way, his toolkit often included more than super glue and duct tape, but somehow he always got the job done.
Jose was a simple man who found joy in life’s little pleasures, whether it be a cup of coffee, a Pepsi, and/or a cigarette were enough to make his day, he found joy in the little things, especially in one of his favorite pastimes going to the movie theater, to him watching a film on the big screen with a large soda and a bucket of popcorn was more than entertainment; it was a experience, a small luxury he treasured form his younger years, it hardly mattered what movie was playing, just being there was enough.
Jose could be stubborn at times, always doing things his way and on his own terms, it was part of what made him who he was, strong willed, independent, and determined, though that stubbornness may have contributed to some of his health struggles, it also reflected his deep desire to live life his way.
Beneath that tough exterior, Jose had a beautiful heart and soul, he have so much to those around him, his time, wisdom, and his love, for 72 wonderful years, he graced us with his presence, and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
The family will receive friends on Saturday November 15, 2025 from 10 until 11 AM with a service following in the Chapel of Teague Funeral Home.
