Our beloved Joshua Che Brown, 35, left this world on July 2, 2026. He was born on January 3, 1991, in Albemarle County, Virginia.
Joshua was preceded in death by his daughter, Karleigh Che Brown; his paternal grandmother, Linda Clements; and his paternal great-grandparents, Thelma “Nanny” Gibson and James Gibson, who was not only his great-grandfather but also his best friend and confidant.
He is survived by his loving wife, Cheyenne Brown, and their four children, Remi, Kimber, JJ, and Lainey (“Gator”), who were the center of his world. He is also survived by his mother, Michelle Brown (Kenny); his father, Anthony Brown; his brother, Nathan Lucas (Emily); and his nephew, Walker.
Joshua leaves behind his maternal grandparents, Dale Hunt (“Granny D”) and Henry Shifflett (“Papa”); his aunts and uncles, Casey and Ricky Morris and Tracy and Paul Shifflett; along with many cousins, great-aunts, and great-uncles.
He is also survived by his in-laws, Cynthia Thacker and Robert Morris, whom he loved teasing and giving a hard time every day.
In addition, Joshua cherished his second family: Uncle Shannon and Aunt Nichole Gibson, and their children, Cody, Reed (Wren), and Logan.
Anyone who knew Josh knew that he loved with his whole heart and never met a stranger. His children meant everything to him, and they always knew it. Whenever Dad was home, it was time to play. Joshua had a passion for fashion—everything had to match from head to toe, and heaven help anyone who stepped on his shoes.
Cars and trucks were another great love of his. With all the buying, selling, and trading he did, he could have easily been a car salesman. He also loved his music loud—because, to Josh, the louder the music, the better the sound.
Joshua touched countless lives during his 35 years and leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. To everyone who loved our boy, thank you for being a part of his journey.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
