Kal Wall Howard
February 26, 1929 – March 5, 2018
Kal Wall Howard passed away on March 5, 2018, after a long period of declining health. Born Kalford Wall Howard, Jr. on February 26, 1929, in Portsmouth, Virginia, he was the only child of the late Kalford Wall Howard M. D. and Margaret Porter Howard.
Kal attended the University of Virginia and graduated from the School of Engineering with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He retired from Comdial after a career in the telephone industry. Post retirement he operated VA Video Associates and recorded many weddings, gatherings, and other celebrations in and around Charlottesville.
While in college he met Julie Dennis, and they married February 24, 1951. They were married and devoted to each other for 66 years. Together they were members of the First Presbyterian Church in Charlottesville for more than sixty years. Julie predeceased him in 2017, and they are happy to be reunited in Heaven.
He is survived by two sons, Dennis Reed Howard (Betsy) of Lynchburg and David Brian Howard of Crozet and his long-time companion Darla Henley. A third son, William Porter Howard, predeceased him. He is also survived by two granddaughters, Margaret Howard Hill (Eric) of Keswick and Elizabeth Reed Howard of Charlottesville, and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Charles E. Linsey of Savannah, Georgia. Also surviving are a number of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
