Kamille Kathleen Krepton Shifflett crossed the bridge to be with her beloved Lord and Savior in her home on July 19, 2021 while surrounded by her loving and devoted family and friends. Her journey home was full to overflowing with love, laughter, gratitude, fellowship, and worship.
She is survived by her children, her daughters Alessia and Amelie, and son Jakob. She is also survived by her mom Ruth, sister Kristine, step-mom Marge, brother Jim, step sister Janice, nieces Hayley and Marissa, and many other family members. She is preceded in death by her father John and her brother Michael.
Kamille was born in 1962 and raised in the suburbs of Chicago where she attended Robert Moser College. In what should come as no surprise to anyone who knew her, she graduated with a degree in Retail Management, which she put to use not only in her career, but also in one of her favorite pastimes – shopping and finding the best deals. Kamille found her way to Virginia when she met and married her former husband Lee, Jakob and Amelie’s father. Like her mom, she never held just one job, but always had at least one if not two or three jobs on the side. Kamille had many successful careers and enjoyed working in the computer industry. Most recently she found joy as the Special Applications Administrator for Hantzmon Wiebel, where she also served as the gifter of gum and candy. Her entrepreneurial spirit combined with her heart for service led her to open the Goodie Bag, a children’s consignment store/place where the community could come for free therapy and nuggets of her wisdom. Her heart for the Lord led her to jobs at Effort Baptist Church and Beautiful Gate Church and Starting Gate Preschool. All while always running an eBay store, which gave her an outlet for selling the many treasures she was so thrilled to find for almost nothing when shopping at yard sales and Goodwill.
Along with her beautiful children, Kamille leaves behind a legacy of not only building bridges, but of being a bridge. She bridged together families, businesses, communities, and friends; anyone and anything that needed to be brought together, Kamille built that bridge or was that bridge herself.
She leaves behind the Beautiful Gate Church, which she co-founded while telling the Pastor, ‘don’t worry I have a plan’. That ‘plan’ now serves as a place of worship, a school for learning, and a haven of help, hope, and healing for those near and far.
Kamille loved the Lord, her children, fellowshipping with friends, a good burger or steak, Diet Dr Pepper, Pollock jokes, shopping, yard sales, being positive, trusting in the good, and most of all serving. Kamille’s unending belief in the good of all people, against any and all evidence to the contrary, made her best friend to all, confidant, adventure buddy, shopping partner, shoulder to cry on, mentor, and ‘Go-Go Girl’. Her contagious smile, humor, graciousness, faith and love will be missed by all, but will continue on in all those she loved, nurtured, and brought to the Lord.
