CELEBRATING A LIFE
Ken Curtis McKnight, of Fries, Virginia, passed away peacefully on September 23,2026 at the age of 72.
Ken was born on November 6, 1953, in Quantico, Virginia to Curtis McKnight and Thelma Shortt.
Ken formerly resided in Tampa Fl and carried on the legacy of Curtis F. McKnight Laboratories Inc for many years. Ken will be remembered for his quick wit and lighthearted spirit. He was a collector of many things. He had a strong love for God, guns, and family. Ken felt right at home and felt deep peace living in
God’s country. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and passionately rooted them on for many years. There wasn’t a Sunday that went by that football wasn’t on in the house. He was also a faithful member of Endless Possibilities Church.
He is survived by his wife Debora of Fries, Va., his daughters Jennifer Place (Joe) of Brooksville, Fl. Kimberlee McKnight (Ronald Jr.) of Riverview, Fl sons Jonathan Barnhill (Amy) of China Grove, North Carolina, and Darrow Jones of Columbia, South Carolina
Ken had ten grandchildren Brittany, Taylor, Jordan, Michael, Skylar, Madison, Alexus, A.J., Bentley, and Tucker and six great grandchildren, Addyson, Easton, Benjamin, Stevie, Jaxson, and Mia.
Ken is also survived by his loving aunts Wanda Mays (Bob) of Galax, VA and Katie Dalton (David) of Hillsville, VA as well as many loving cousins and friends.
Ken is predeceased by his mother Thelma Shortt, his father Curtis McKnight, and son James Barnhill.
A service and celebration of Ken’s life will be held at Endless Possibilities Church (627 Glendale Rd, Galax
VA, 24333) on October 17th, 2026, at 2pm.
