

Lonnie Wycliffe Branham, age 78, passed away Monday, May 25, 2015. Born on March 26, 1937, he was a son of the late James Frank and Gracie Dean Branham. In addition to his parents, Lonnie was preceded in death by his sister-in-law Mildred Wood. Lonnie was a member of Nortonsville Church of God. He retired from AG Dillard in 1999. Lonnie was a man of many interests. In Lonnie’s words….“I’m a jack of all trades and a master of none.” He was a part-time farmer and heavy equipment operator. Tinkering with antique tractors and trucks was a favorite pastime. Lonnie restored his green and white 1972 Chevy Super Cheyenne, which he named “Baby Doll”. He loved bluegrass music and flat footing. Lonnie enjoyed his semi-annual trips to Carlisle Truck and Car Show in Pennsylvania with his buddies Donnie Herring and Bill Myers. They first ventured to Carlisle in 1987 and never missed a year after that. He thoroughly enjoyed his evenings spent with his brother, either sitting on the porch or watching TV. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Eloise Herring Branham; his daughter, Dana Branham; his son, Kevin Branham and his wife Kim; his grandchildren, Ashley and T.J. Branham; his brother, Ronald Branham and his wife Barbara; his sister, Wanda Tonker and her husband Wayne; and, a special brother-in-law, Danny Wood. Lonnie is also survived by a large extended family that will sorely miss him. A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 am Saturday, May 30, 2015 at Nortonsville Church of God, 1505 Simmons Gap Rd, Dyke, VA 22935. Pastor David Allison will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Friday, May 29, 2015 at the church. The family would like to thank the many friends and family members for their support. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Lonnie’s name to Nortonsville Church of God’s Building Fund.
