I went to Flagler College with Mike and met Marie in 1974, but really had the pleasure of knowing her better in 2001. Kris and I took Marie dancing at the Ponte Vedra Club happy hours. She was the belle of the ball! Marie was beautiful always in all ways! She loved socializing and cooking for friends. We took the Girls to dinner, then surprised Mike and Cliff, when we appeared at Bo's Coral Reef to enjoy the Drag shows. Spent the night at her home, and bumped into her on the way to the bathroom! We both screamed! She left an indelible mark with everyone lucky enough to meet her! What a dame! RIP Marie Bugg.

I worked in City Hall with Marie for many years and we frequently discussed city matters as well as her family. She was a lovely person, always with a smile on her face, and a devoted employee of Charlottesville. She was a smart lady and a great asset to the Treasurer's office. Although our paths had not crossed for many years, I thought of her often and would ask my sister in law, Florence Bruce, who also worked in the Treasurer's office, how she was doing and if she had heard from her recently.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family in this difficult time.

Marie and I worked at City Hall together for a number of years. She was another one of the "old school" employees when respect and integrity meant everything. It was a pleasure to work with her and, while I had not seen her for a few years, she will be missed.

Our heartfelt sympathy goes to Marie's family. Her friends here in Ponte Vedra Beach Florida loved her dearly and was sorry to see her move away. We have many fond memories of Marie dancing to "Rocky Top" at the Ponte Vedra Inn and Club, always smiling and having a good time. She was the perfect hostess and it was a real treat to be invited to one of her Sunday night suppers. She was a wonderful cook and always treated her guests as if each was special. Her special ingredient was "love". We will always remember gathering around her piano with Lamar playing his sax, Doug on the piano and Jim singing...all because Marie made it happen.
Godspeed Marie....we know he has a special place for angels like you.

Love, Marjorie Brown and Jim Alexander

Dear Mike, Greg, Kevin and Family,
My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Marie was a sweet lady and a dear friend to both Lamar and I. We had such fun with she and Mike here in Jacksonville. So much laughter, dancing, good food and just great times being together. I’ve missed seeing her, but still enjoyed our phone visits. I know you can see from the family photos how much we loved her. I know she’s in heaven with the angels. I pray God gives you all comfort through this difficult time. God Bless. Love, Nell
