

Mary Dudley Cottle, 89, of North Garden, died May 20, 2025, at Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital. She was born on December 9, 1935, to the late Henry Hamilton Dudley and Cora Effie Sprouse. She was married to the late James Cottle for 48 years.
Mary is survived by a son, Ronnie Cottle (Sue), of Wake Forest, NC and a daughter Amy Sheler of Esmont. Mary was blessed with four grandchildren, Travis Cottle of Raleigh, NC, Jessica Rabaa (Ehab) of Memphis, TN, Britni Sheler of North Garden and Jon Sheler of Esmont, and 6 "apple of her eye" great-grand children.
Mary is survived by one living sibling, her twin sister Martha Gray of Afton. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruby Morris and Helen Morris, and three brothers, Clarence, Billy, and June Dudley.
Mary was a faithful servant of God at Mt. Olivet Methodist Church for many years. She loved serving God by working with the Willing Workers and singing in the choir until her decline in health. She was known for her good country cooking and Christmas time baking.
Per Mary's wishes, she did not want to have a service but to be laid to rest by her husband with a private family burial at Mt. Olivet Methodist Church in North Garden.
