Nelson attended Queen Anne’s County High School in Centerville, MD and served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He worked for many years in CAD operation, contributing to projects with General Electric, Grumman and NASA.
Nelson was preceded in death by his parents, Elaine B. Dillehunt and Robert H. Dillehunt of Chester, MD, and his brother Thomas H. Dillehunt of Baltimore, MD.
He is survived by his two children, Lori A. Shaffrey of Baltimore, MD and David N. Dillehunt of Charlottesville, VA; his brother John O. Dillehunt of Queenstown, MD, two nephews, Joseph and Christopher Dillehunt of Queenstown, MD; and aunts, uncles and numerous cousins.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2021, from 12pm-1pm at the Darden Towe Park Picnic Shelter, with military honors being rendered at 12pm by the Navy and American Legion
