It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert “Bobby” Bernard Anderson of Charlottesville, VA who passed away peacefully in Charlottesville, VA on Friday August 22, 2026, at the age of 75. Bobby was born on July 18, 1951, in Charlottesville, VA.
Bobby was drafted into the Army during Vietnam and once he completed his tour; he came back to Charlottesville. Bobby spent most of his life as a professional pool player after developing a love and passion for the game as a child. Bobby was well known in Charlottesville; and most knew he was dangerous with that pool stick in his hand. Many tried but few were successful at beating him in the game. He traveled across the country to play in tournaments until his illness prohibited him from doing so. Bobby was winning tournaments as late as 2026 while he battled cancer. He was actively involved in several billiard clubs such as the APA Pool League, Moose Lodges, and local pool halls.
He was preceded in death by his life partner, Deborah Wells. Bobby and Debbie are survived by their two children, Robert (“Lil Bobby”) and Dominique. Bobby is also survived by his mother, Annie Mae Harris; four brothers: William (Sonny Boy), Eric, Michael, and Sylvester (WS); two sisters: Shelia and Wanda. Sister-in-Law: Linda and Brother-in-Law: John-Michael. Bobby is also survived by his grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends whose lives he touched with every interaction.
The family would like to express our sincere thanks to the cancer center of UVA for the care and compassion that Bobby received. Their kindness and support will never be forgotten.
Bobby was the first born. Everyone who knows him understood how protective, independent, rebellious, and strong he could be. We will all have to adjust to this new “normal” of not having him here with us. We will deeply miss him but understand he is no longer in pain, and we will cherish his memory forever in our hearts. If there is a pool table in the afterlife; we know exactly what he is doing.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life at Teague Funeral Home, 2260 Ivy Road, Charlottesville, VA, on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at Noon.
A repast will be held after the Services are complete: Eagles 4345 Fraternal Lodge 1301B Carlton Ave, Charlottesville, VA 22902
