Ruth Rice Pleasants

Ruth Rice Pleasants, 96, of Charlottesville, died Sunday, August 21, 2016 at Morningside Assisted Living in Charlottesville. Born December 6, 1919 in Covington, VA, she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Irene Rice. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Andrew Pleasants; her son, Clifford Andrew “Nick” Pleasants, Jr.; brothers, Wilbert (Beulah) and Wesley Rice; and sisters, Eva Doss (Joe), Katherine Shutko (John) and Edna Atkins. She is survived by her children David (Elaine), James , Michael (Janet), Barbara, Roger (Lynn Herring) and Donald. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and her sister Ollie Barrett. According to her wishes, there will be no viewing. A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, August 25, 2016 at Riverview Cemetery in Charlottesville. The family wishes to thank the staff at Hospice of the Piedmont and Morningside Assisted Living.
