Obituary of Sharon J. Taylor
Sharon Johnson Taylor, 66, of Charlottesville, passed away on Thursday, April 8, 2021. Sharon was born on November 14, 1954, in Charlottesville and was a graduate of Lane High School. She loved hanging out with “JT”, socializing and listening to live music with friends at Durty Nelly’s, going to Aerosmith concerts, spending long, hot days on the beach at Nags Head and taking annual holiday trips to New York City. Over the years, Sharon worked at Wayside Takeout, The Hoo’s Kitchen, and Durty Nelly’s. Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, John “JT” Taylor; father, Russell “Pete” Johnson; and her sister, Anne Johnson. Sharon is survived by her mother (and best friend), Millie Johnson; sister, Kelli Watson; nephew, Andrew Watson; brothers-in-law, Warner "JR" Thomas and Valerie Gerlach, Charles "Chuck" Thomas, O.H. "Buddy" Taylor and his wife Kathleen; Bill Thomas and his wife Sarah Scott; sisters-in-law Lilly Taylor, Anne Sicigiano, Molly Parker, Leigh Thomas; her God Sons, Nick Pollock, Shayne Shifflett; special lifelong friend, Sherry Shifflett; sidekick in more recent years, Cati Payne; the Durty Nelly’s regulars, and many other loving family members and devoted friends. Sharon appreciated the help she received during her final months from friends, Cindy Orshek, Lil Tyler, Julie Layne, Linda Sorrells, and Karlen Layne. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2021, at 1 pm, at Monticello Memory Gardens.
