Shelby W. Zedekar

Shelby was the daughter of Ethel and Oscar Woodson of Charlottesville, Virginia, and the youngest of nine children. After graduating from the University of Virginia School of Nursing in 1955, she married Raymond Gerald Zedekar. Together with their two children, they moved to Houston, Texas, where Shelby practiced nursing while Raymond trained astronauts for NASA. Returning to the family homeplace in the mountains of Charlottesville, Virginia after retirement was a dream come true.

She is survived by her daughter, Joan Cates, and husband, Michael, along with their 10 children and 11 grandchildren; and by her son, Raymond Gerald Zedekar Jr., and wife, Joann, along with their four children and four grandchildren. She loved and adored each of them.

Shelby loved the Lord with all her heart and left this world calling out to her Heavenly Father.”
