Steve Edward Mathis Sr.

Steve Edward Mathis, age 61, of Lyndhurst, Virginia, passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville, Virginia. Mr. Mathis was born March 29, 1965, in Avon Park, Florida, to the late Minnie Wells and the late Grady Mathis. He was a long-time over-the-road truck driver and would help anyone who asked him for help.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Steve Mathis Jr. and his brothers Randy Mathis and Alan Mathis.

Survivors include his children Shelby (Douglas) Errett, Chelsey (Skyler) Crews, Bobby (Brandy) Clack, Cierra Grob. His longtime girlfriend, Keitha Ray. Brothers Howard (Clara) Mathis, Ross (Debra) Mathis; sister Dorothy (Jeremiah) Johnson. His grandchildren Jaysha Errett, KaiLena Mock, Breanna Errett, Bobby Clack Jr., Toni Mathis, Andrew Dykes, Isabella Bryant, Erica Campbell, Makyla Errett, Bentley Errett, Kimberly Clack, Madison Errett and Amelia Errett. His two beloved dogs, Sasha and Shyla. Several Nieces and Nephews also survived.

There will be a private viewing for immediate family on Monday, October 19, 2026 followed by cremation on Tuesday, October 20, 2026.
