Obituary of Mrs. Susan Aldish
Susan Diggan Aldish, 91, died peacefully on Friday May 10, 2019, at Rosewood Village at Hollymead in Charlottesville, Virginia. She was born on October 16, 1927, in Hughesville, PA, and was the daughter of the late Raymond Farr Diggan and Reda McClintock Diggan. Susan was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Michael Aldish. For over thirty five years before retiring to Charlottesville, Susan and Mike lived in Muncy, PA, where she was active in many charitable organizations, focusing her energies towards those that involved their four children. She was a member of St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church. As her family grew over the years, she delighted in her grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Throughout her life she pursued a joy of gardening. Not only did she spend countless hours in the garden nurturing her own plants but that passion led her to share her horticultural knowledge with many others. She is survived by her four children, daughter, Pam Bracey, and her husband, Lucius, of Charlottesville, VA; daughter, Beth Hough, and her husband, Stephen, of Lancaster, PA; son, Michael Aldish of Wilmington, NC; and daughter, Susan Grigg and her husband, Jon, of Wellsboro, PA. Susan is also survived by her grandchildren, Keturah Bracey and her husband, Jay Horine, of New Canaan, CT; Daniel Bracey and his wife, Alexandra, of Charlottesville, VA; Sarah Davenport and her husband, Cameron, of Bozeman, MT; Hunter Grigg of Ithaca, NY; and Taylor Grigg of Boston, MA. In addition, she is survived by two great grandchildren, Lily Hart Horine and Greyson Bracey. The family wishes to extend thanks to the nurses and staff of Rosewood Hollymead and to the Hospice of the Piedmont for their exceptional care. Services will be private. Those who wish may send contributions in Susan’s memory to Hospice of the Piedmont, 675 Peter Jefferson Parkway, Suite 300, Charlottesville, VA, 22911.
